Ambeth Ocampo

Si Ambeth R. Ocampo ay isang historyador, manunulat at gurong Filipino. Kilala siya sa kaniyang mga artikulo at akda kung saan makikita ang ilang mga hindi kilalang mga impormasyon tungkol sa kaniyang mgapaksa. Mayroon siyang kolum sa pahayagang Philippine Daily Inquirer, ang Looking Back mula pa noong 1993. Pinamunuan niya ang National Historical Institute (kasalukuyang National Historical Commission of the Philippines) mula 2002 hanggang 2011, at ang National Commission for Culture and the Arts mula 2005 hanggang 2007.

Talambuhay

Ipinanganak si Ocampo noong 1961 sa Maynila. Nag-aral siya ng elementarya at sekondarya sa Ateneo de Manila University. Nag-aral siya ng kaniyang bachelor's degree at masterado sa De La Salle University. Natapos niya ang kaniyang doktorado sa Southeast Asian History mula sa University of London School of Oriental and African Studies. Noong 1993, pumasok siya sa Benedictine Abbey of Our Lady of Montserrat. Nanatili siya sa monasteryo sa loob ng apat na taon.

Nagsilbi bilang chairman ng NHI si Ocampo mula 2002 hanggang 2011 at ng NCCA mula 2005 hanggang 2007. Nagturo rin siya sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas at kolumnista ng Philippine Daily Inquirer, kung saan unang nalimbag ang nasa 55 sanaysay tungkol kay Jose Rizal, na kinalaunan ay kaniyang inilimbag bilang isang libro.

Noong 2008, nakatanggap si Ocampo ng doktorado sa Public Administration (honoris causa) mula sa Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Bukod sa ADMU at UP, nagtuturo rin siya sa San Beda College at sa DLSU.
